Getting back at it

It's been along time since I checked in here. Mind you I've been keeping tabs on the place and its nice to see everything still there. Last time we spoke I was setting up the basement to serve as a new training grounds and that's largely come together. We've the bare essentials - a treadmill and a bike trainer and enough space to stretch/fall flat on my face after a workout. The treadmill is second hand from a lovely tradition in my old community of Cold Lake where every spring if you don't want something in your house you can toss it on the yard. If someone doesn't pick it up over the weekend, the base sends out crews to pick it up and toss it for you. So, there's the treadmill's story. The display doesn't work but it goes plenty fast and I just use it when its cold out like this week and go by time and then add some on top of whatever distance I aimed at. IE Friday I wanted 4 miles so I ran 40 minutes and given its been about two years since I ran a ten minute mile I feel like I probably acheived it and then some.

The real exciting addition to the basement was the Cycleops Powerbeam Pro that I picked up second hand from Ebay. This baby is sweet and I was super excited when I finally got it all together and running. Set it up the night before my intended first ride and took it for a ten minute test to make sure everything was set. Unfortunately I must've missed something as when I came down the next day for my ride the back tire was done for. After that I admittedly let it go, discouraged and dishearteded for a bit. I was in the gym lifting and exercising but no biking. I finally got my act together though and fixed the flat, my first wahoo!, and have since been riding on a regular basis for about a week now.

Yesterday I went for my first big ride on the trainer and have the data below to show for it.

So, as you can see I've got some work to do. Regardless, I'm stoked. I changed my first flat, got some sweet rides in on a new piece of kit and the forecast for the week is about 20 degrees warmer than it is right now.

Must be my lucky day!
